This magnificent castle in the center of Bodrum has become the symbol of Bodrum. Let's talk a little about Bodrum Castle, which is both historical and has postcard-like views.
Between 1402 and 1522, St. It was built by the Knights of St. Jean to provide a safe zone against the threat of the Ottoman Empire. Bodrum Castle was used by Italians, French, Germans and British. The construction of the castle was completed in 1437.
Although the Ottoman Empire attacked the castle many times, the castle resisted these attacks. The castle came under Ottoman rule as a result of the Siege of Rhodes in 1523. As a result, a minaret was added to the castle and the chapel inside the castle turned into a mosque under the name "Süleyman Mosque". The castle, which remained empty for 40 years after the First World War, was later converted into the Underwater Archeology Museum.
